Toliara Province

Toliara Province

The Toliara Province (previously Toliary or Tuléar) was formerly a province of Madagascar.  As it stands today Madagascar is no longer divided into provinces as such but is divided into five geographical regions: the east coast, the Tsaratanana Massif, the central highlands, the west coast and the southwest.

Madagascar is the 4th largest island in the world (comparable to the size of Kenya or France) and has a moderate climate from tropical humidity to semi-arid, depending on the location.

Malagasy is the official language of the island, however French is used in business and government in the main cities.  The Toliara Province was one of the poorest on the island despite the production of export crops.

Madagascar is a popular tourist destination around the world.
